Tracy can you get Scott to define "Novices OK" for us?

Let him know I'm willing to organize and cooperate on our end if he's willing to do the same on his end.

Thanks!

James,
Were you thinking of the May events at SCR ? If Scott gives you the go ahead,
I will be willing to pay for my instructor for one day. I have two driving schools coming, but I can take one of them in the Fall.

Now, if I get signed off to do the ORP events. I could bring the motorhome, and enclosed trailer, so it won't be totally roughing it. I need to install the new front sway bar amd shock package on it before I take to Oregon

Yeah looking at the 14th to possibly get a few of us out there. I can think of 5-10 off the top of my head that would probably go assuming it's not the $400 fee.

Here is the reply from Scott:

"A novice driver is one who has not driven a car on the track, at unrestricted speed.

Autocross doesn't count, touring laps don't count, driving on the autobahn doesn't count. (I am assuming this is meaning you would still be considered a novice if you have done any of these.)

It says Novices are OK, because we exclude novices at the 4/2 event. Too many participants on that day, and its right before the school, where novices fit right in.

Novices sign up as a Novice, at extra cost, and I provide an instructor. When novices return for the 2nd time, I make them take an instructor for a couple sessions to make sure they didn't forget everything."

If you go to http://www.motorsportreg.com/ you will be able to see what the costs for the events are. Let me know if I can help out with any more information.

That's too bad. $400 price tag for a single day isn't worth it to most of us. I do understand the cost because of track rental fees, insurance, etc but it's just way too spendy for most.

I guess we'll go down and race with Mike Dawson and the Portland CCA crew this year instead for half the cost on a much better track.

Keep in mind that anyone who has track experience at an open event is NOT considered a novice. So if you have run at Portland or Pacific Raceways or any other track then talk to Scott because he may be willing to let you run. It is worth a try.

He won't and he has said this to me and others. It has to be done under one of his programs or his supervision.

Sounds like not many of you will be going to these events due to cost. Wish I could do something about it. We will be out there so if anyone wants to come out for a ride we are happy to take people out with us. I know it isn't the same.

Hopefully down the road there will be some NWBMW open track events. We just don't have enougth of them during the year in my opinion.

Getting excited because it has been two years since I have been on the track!

thanks Tracy! We will work on something. I'm hoping by 2011 or 2012 at the latest we will be hosting Track Days.
